Leadership Excellence (LEX) Activity Guide

The CAP Leadership Project is developing a hands-on, experiential activity book to supplement the "Learn to Lead, Module One - Personal Leadership" textbook.

Activities can be constructed such that all cadets participate in the basic activity, yet follow-up questions could be crafted to meet the needs of new and advanced cadets alike.

The CAP Leadership Project will pay you  $20 for each team leadership problem lesson published, $15 for each group discussion lesson published, and $10 for each movie discussion lesson published. You could earn up to $700!

Deadline to submit your lesson plans has passed. Thanks to everyone who submitted their work products to the Project Lead. Your efforts will help to improve the final products!

Hands-on learning is a great way to develop leadership skills. According to the L2L White Paper, some requirements for the Leadership Excellence (LEX) Activity Guide include:

   • Hands-on, experiential learning opportunities, similar to the Team Leadership Problems used at Cadet Officer School

   • Case studies, games, movies, and puzzles that test cadets’ ability to solve problems and communicate in a team environment

   • Recipe-like lesson plans that identify the objective of each activity, explain how to execute the activity, and outline the main teaching points.

All lessons will have a tie to the DRAFT textbook, "Learn to Lead, Module One - Personal Leadership." This outstanding text is authored by Curt LaFond, Chief of Cadet Programs at CAP's National Headquarters. Please refer any questions or comments about the DRAFT textbook to Mr. LaFond.
